Currently I am awaiting the galleys for FOUR SECRETS, also awaiting a response to my novel THE BEETLE BOY and working steadily on the short stories that will comprise the novel HOW SHE LEFT. January is proving to be a month during which I can write every day, even it it is only for a few hours. The most challenging thing about working on the stories for HOW SHE LEFT is that in order to make the stories work as a novel, I am having to cut much writing--many passages that might have belonged in a short story, but work against the broader strokes of a novel.
So...cut,cut,cut. My recent experience as an editor of other people's fiction is helping me. Don't dish it out if you can't take it, right?
